Currently residing in the Berlin/Germany, Ms. Dionysia-Niovi Klavdianou is a native of Greece. She has been trained and performed first as a straight theatre performer at Drama School: Parathlasis and later as a lyric singer on stages of Europe and the United States. In 2003 she graduated from the Synchronon Conservatory of Thessaloniki with a Special Prize in Vocal Interpretation. She was accepted to continue her studies in the Opera Program of the Maryland State University at College Park and received her Master’s in Opera in 2005. She went on to pursue a Doctoral Degree in Vocal Performance graduating in December 2008. Her dissertation project was titled “Reflections on children” and within this frame she performed and researched works of more than 25 composers and in more than eleven languages with raving reviews. Ms. Klavdianou has been the recipient of one of the two "Opera Award" Scholarships at Maryland for five consequent years and was also a fellow of the "Alexandros S. Onassis" Foundation from 2003 to 2009.
Mrs. Klavdianou has collaborated a number of times with the Opera Theatre of the Rockies in Colorado, with the National Theatre of Catalonia (Spain) and the National Theatre of Greece. Operatic Roles that she has performed include: Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at Lucca Opera Festival, Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito at the Kay Theatre of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Magda Sorellin The Consul at Colorado Opera, Agathe in Der Freischütz at Opera Thatre of the Rockies , Liu in Turandot in Portland (OR), Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana at Marseille Opera, Marguerita in Mefistofele in Baltimore Opera among others. She has also performed the soprano solo in Verdi’s Requiem in in St. Martin's in the Fields, London, Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder in Berlin Potzdamer Platz, Mahler's 8th Symphony in Prag Concert Hall , Beethoven's 9th Symphony at Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, Theodorakis' Raven in St. Vitus Cathedral,Prag, Dvorâk's Stabat Mater in Roma Auditorium, Bruckner's Te Deum - F minor Symphony -and- Psalm 125 in Berlin Philharmonie and Britten's War Requiem in Winchester Cathedral among others. Ms. Klavdianou feels equally at home performing Opera, Oratorio, Symphonic Works and Art Song Recitals and she especially enjoys collaborations with chamber music ensembles. In recent years she has experienced a Vocal Fach shift, and is now considered one of the highest promising dramatic sopranos in the German Fach.
She is fluent in seven languages.
