Saskova Dagmar

Mezzo Soprano

 

Mezzosoprano Dagmar Šašková was born in Rakovnik (Czech Republic). She studied solo singing and music with Mgr. Ludmila Kotnauerova at the Faculty of Pedagogy of West Bohemian University in Pilsen (CZ). She profited from an international student exchange programme ERASMUS at Faculty of Philosophy at the Technical University in Chemnitz (Germany).
As a solo singer she was awarded 2nd price in the international competition of Leos Janacek in Brno and a special price of Bohuslav Martinu for interpretation of his songs. She worked her repertoir and vocal qualities with Mgr. art. Marta Benackova at Janacek Academy of Music in Brno.
In June 2008 she finished her studies in Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, France. The scholarship of Foundation of Nadia and Lili Boulanger gave her support to work the bel canto arias with Alexandra Papadjiakou in Paris.
Interested in baroque vocal music - especially lute songs of 16th and 17th century she participated in a workshop of baroque gesture taught by Benjamin Lazar (role of Irea in the opera L´Avidita di Mida by Antonio Draghi) in Prague. In September 2009 she created with a lutenist Manuel de Grange and an actor Julien Cigana a project of songs and poems about wine of 17th century In Taverna (www.in-taverna.com).
Nowadays she sings as a solo singer with baroque ensembles Doulce Memoire, Le Concert Lorrain, Il Seminario musicale, Le Concert brisé, Musica Florea and Collegium Marianum.
As a solo singer she recorded for the label K617 Grands Motets by Pierre Robert, conducted by Olivier Schneebeli. In the season 2009/2010 she added to her discotheque two recordings- the Madrigals by Johann Hermann Schein with ensemble Sagittarius (Michel Laplénie) and The cantatas for soprano by Dietrich Buxtehude with Le Concert brisé (William Dongois).
In January 2010 Dagmar Saskova intepreted a role of Corisande in the baroque opera by Jean-Baptiste Lully Amadis (The Theatre of Avignon). With the ensemble Collegium 1704 she featured the role of Maddalena in the Caldara´s oratorio Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo and she participated in the b miner Mass by J. S. Bach at the Festival of La Chaise Dieu (Soprano II). In September 2010 she presented in the role of Apollo in the Händel´s opera Terpsichore in the theatre of castle Mnichovo Hradiště.
