Modino Philipp

Tenor

Philip Modino was born in Bremen, Germany, but studied in London. He graduated from Trinity College of Music with a Bachelor in Music, having studied Singing, Piano and Conducting. His teachers include John Modenos, Jenny Drivala, John Wakefield, Mary Hill, Douglas Finch, Philip Fowke, Yonty Solomon, Gregory Rose to name a few.
Philip has performed as a singer, pianist and conductor in the UK, Italy, France, Spain and Greece. Roles he has sung include Radames, Adorno and Don Alvaro by Verdi, Cavaradossi and Calaf by Puccini as well as Idomeneo by Mozart. Philip’s credits include the Barbican, St. John’s Smith Square and Blackheath Halls in the UK, Teatro della Feria, Valladollid in Spain, Teatro Gavazzini, Seriate, Bergamo and Bellano Lyrica Festival as well as Gustav Kuhn’s Accademia de Montegral, Lucca in Italy, Ville de Sarreguemines in France and over 70 venues and festivals in Greece, including the National Theatre, the National Opera and many outdoor amphitheatres such as the theatres used by the Peiraus, Ilioupoli and Petra Theatre festivals (2000 – 5000 seat theatres). Philip has also served as artistic director in several productions in opera, chamber music and theatre as well as the Casa dei Mezzi music festival in Crete and was the stage co-director and lead in the revival production of Shakespeare’s lost play “Cardenio” at King’s College London. Philip speaks Enlish, Greek and German fluently, Spanish and Italian well and also has an elementary knowledge of French and Japanese.
