Stamellou Eleni Lydia
Soprano
At the age of five she started ballet lessons at the school of Yannis Metzis and piano lessons with Lenia Erodiadou and Aliki Vatikioti at the Athens Conservatory. She got her first singing lessons from Greek bass Fragiskos Voutsinos. She was then accepted at the Music Academy of Freiburg, in Germany, were she studied classical singing with Prof. Markus Goritzki. During that period she also received the "Erasmus" scholarship and studied one semester with Prof. Ralf Döring at the University of Music in Vienna. With the scholarship of the "Onassis Public Benefit Foundation" she continued her classical vocal studies at the music conservatory of Bologna "G.B.Martini" in Italy with Stella Parenti and at the music conservatory of Napoli "San Pietro a Majella" in Italy with conductor Antonio Florio, were she studied baroque singing. Moreover she studied with soprano Maria Candida.
She has won the second prize at the international singing competition "Ferruccio Tagliavini" in Austria with Dame Joan Sutherland as president of the jury.
She has given recitals and has appeared with a wide repertoire which includes Opera, Oratorio, Operetta, Lieder and Musicals and Jazz in theatres in Germany: Stadthalle Bayreuth, Schloss Ebnet, Erzbischoefliches Palais- Freiburg, Greece: Herodus Atticus Ancient Theatre, Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls "Megaron Moussikis", The Ancient Roman Market, Palace Theatre, Jewish Synagogue of Athens, Athenaeum International Cultural Center, Goethe Institut Athen, Festival of Symi-Symi, Megaro Gyzi Festival- Santorini, Conservatory of Athens, Parnassos Concert Hall, Ionio Festival "Paolo Carrer", Lofos Strani, Municipality of Alikes- Zakynthos, Pireus's Municipal Museum, Aggelon Vima Theatre, Maroussi Music Festival, U.S.A.: Live at the Lounge- Los Angeles, Miles Cafe- New York, Kunstoff Prom- San Fransisco, Cuba: Oratorio San Felipe Neri- Havana, Turkey: Cesme Musik Festival- Izmir, and France: Eglise Niedermodern-Alsace.
Roles include Snowhite in "Snowhite" by J.Joneleit and S.Kassies and the leading soprano at the barock Opera/Play "Sheep"at the national theatres of Mannheim and Oldenburg in Germany with guest appearances in Ireland and Holland, Eliza Doolittle in "My fair Lady" by C.Zeller and leading soprano in "Prayers for the ghetto" by C.King, New York- off Broadway, Maria in West Side Story in "The Show"- Zelt Music Festival and Wallgrabentheater, Christel in C.Zeller's " Der Vogelhaendler" and the leading soprano/actress in "Venessia- Stadt im Vasser" by I.Waldherr in Freiburg, Germany.
She has sung with famous greek singers Aliki Kayaloglou and Mario Frangoulis, with the National Symphony Orchestra E.R.T., The Oticons Orchestra and the ensemble Canto e Parola.
She is a member of The Michael Chekhov Theatre Company in New York where she made her debut in "Something Outrageous" and she also played in B.Patelsky's short film "Blind Date" and P.Zustiak's (Palissimo) A Painted Bird-Bastard at La Mama, New York.
She currently studies at the Stella Adler Acting Studio in New York having received for the second time the scholarship of the "Onassis Public Benefit Foundation".
She speaks fluently Greek, English, German, Italian, French and sings also in Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, Ancient Greek, Latin.
