Klavdianou Dionysia-Niovi
Soprano
Currently residing in the Berlin, Ms. Klavdianou is a native of Thessaloniki/Greece. She has been trained both as a straight theatre performer and as a lyric singer and has worked on stages of Europe
and the United States for the past six years. In 1997 she graduated
from the Theater School Parathlasis and in 2001 from the Synchronon Conservatory of Thessaloniki with a Special Prize in Musical Interpretation. She was accepted to continue her studies in the Opera Program of the Maryland State University at College Park and received her Master’s in Opera in 2003 and her Doctoral Degree in Vocal Performance in 2006.
Ms. Klavdianou has been the recipient of the one "Opera Award" scholarship at Maryland for the entire length of her studies and
has also been a Fellow of the prestigious"Alexandros S. Onassis"
Foundation from 2001 to 2006. She has actively participated in master
classes of he renowned Ghena Dimtrova, Kurt Equiluz, Brenda Harris,
Carol Vaness and Delores Ziegler.
As far as her engagements outside the East Coast area, she has collaborated a number of times with the Opera Theatre of the Rockies in Colorado and with the National Theatre of Catalonia (Spain) and the State Theatre of Northern Greece. Operatic Roles that she has performed include: Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors/State Theater of Thessaloniki, Marcellina in Marriage of Figaro /University of Maryland, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni /Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito /University of Maryland, Kathleen in Riders to the Sea (Vaguan Williams) /University of Maryland, Magda Sorell in The Consul /Opera Theater of the Rockies, Agathe in Der Freischütz/Opus Theater (Barcelona) and Liu in Turandot/Passaggio Opera (Colorado). She has also performed the soprano solo in Verdi’s Requiem in London's Imperial College, Beethoven's 9th Symphony in Berlin and Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder in Athens, Thessaloniki just to name a few. Mrs. Klavdianou is also a keen recitalist, having performed more than 25 different art song programs in the last 5 years,
including festivals in Germany and Greece like Herzgrün Festival
(Berlin), Christofori (Berlin), 42nd and 43rd Dimitria Festival
(Thessaloniki), Sani Festival (Thessaloniki), Paolo Correr Festival
(Zante) among others. Future engagements include the soprano solo in Rossini’s Stabat Mater in
Prague, the soprano solo in Britten's War Requiem with the Imperial
College of London, as well as recitals in Boston, New York, Baltimore
and Washington D.C. Ms.Klavdianou is fluent in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
